Picasso and knitting

No Picasso did not knit, but still he is highly relevant. 

When you work in arts & crafts certain people seem to think that you should give away your work for pennies, or even better, for free.

What I hear again and again is that the price is too high for a download and watching a couple of videos.

Well, if that is how you see it, you have missed the point completely. There is so much more to this than downloading a pattern and watch a few videos. But that is a story for another day.

The story for today is this.

There are different stories out there that illustrates the same, but this one should be understandable to most.
Picasso was at a Paris market when an admirer approached and asked if he could do a quick sketch on a paper napkin for her.

Picasso politely agreed, promptly created a drawing, and handed back the napkin — but not before asking for a million Francs.

The lady was shocked: “How can you ask for so much? It took you five minutes to draw this!”
“No”, Picasso replied, “It took me 40 years to draw this in five minutes.”

Having said that, it took me about 150 hours just to knit this shawl, so that I can spend time making it look pretty, take photos and show it to you.
